Public Health in Action
At UTK, our goal is to create a community of educated public health professionals with the skills they need to make an impact. That’s why our MPH students complete an Applied Practice Experience (similar to an internship) to apply classroom learning, develop practical skills, and demonstrate public health competency attainment. The Applied Practice Experience (APEx) is a 240-hour minimum work experience enabling graduate students to develop and demonstrate public health competencies while contributing to projects that benefit the organization.

Online MPH students can choose between four program concentrations, including Community Health Education, Epidemiology, Health Policy and Management, and Veterinary Public Health.
The international application process is strictly monitored by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Therefore, all questions involving the international application processes should be directed to that office. Please be aware that application deadlines for international students vary from those for domestic students. International deadlines can be found on the graduate admissions website.
No. The GRE is not required.
Yes. Students in the online MPH are held to the same standards as our residential MPH candidates, and the curriculum and rigor of the program is identical to our residential program. Graduates of UT MPH programs receive the same degree designation and your diploma will not reflect the modality of coursework.
